On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Payton Davis.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I was born and raised in Ankeny, Iowa. I came to Kentucky to attend Boyce College in 2017 to study biblical counseling and I graduated May 2022. I recently became the administrative assistant to Boyce faculty, which I am beyond excited to serve in this capacity! I am also working on completing my ACBC certification. When I’m not at work or church, I enjoy all things sports and outdoors, especially hammocking!

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: Ninth and O was the second church I visited and I’ve been here ever since! It’ll be 6 years in August! I’m in the singles BFG, but I am still active in the college BFG. I serve in the teal room in the Preschool Ministry, at the connections table for visitors, and have various other roles assisting in planning and leading in both the college and singles.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I have someone named after me who is only a few months younger than me. Let me explain! A family who was expecting a girl saw my name “Payton Elyse” in the church announcements, and decided they liked the name (and spelling) so much that they would name their daughter the same. They ended up living down the street from us for a time.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: Honestly, all the female college group leaders!! They have all mentored and discipled me in some way or fashion. I would not be who I am today without their intentionality to pour into my life over the course of five years! They have been there for me in the ups and downs from Freshman year to graduation. They have listened well, asked the hard questions, and given wise counsel. They have invited me into their homes and into their every day life making me feel part of their family. They have encouraged and challenged my walk with the Lord in so many ways, whether directly speaking into my life or indirectly through how they live their lives. Thank you ladies!!

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: Throughout this past year, the Lord has been teaching me a lot about His goodness and His sovereignty. Life after graduation has been really hard for me in all aspects of life. Coming face-to-face with unmet expectations and my current reality forced me to decide if I truly believe what I say I believe. In the midst of this last year and disappointments, I can attest that the Lord is still good and the Lord is still sovereign!
